Our social media darling is going to Haiti!

Earlier this fall, many of you wonderful people participated in our fundraising campaign for Water.org, #10Days10LivesTML, led by Caroline Urdaneta of Salsa Pie. We far surpassed our goal of raising $2,500: enough money to bring 100 people clean water for life. I set up a single fundraising page for TML folks (under my name) to donate instead of asking each blogger to set up her own fundraising page — this seemed like a much easier way of going about promoting the fundraiser. What I didn’t realize at the time is that every person who set up a fundraising page was entered to win a trip to Haiti with Water.org.

Last week, I found out that I had won the trip to Haiti! I felt/feel a little weird about accepting the prize, as Caroline was the fearless leader who brought Water.org to our attention and did so much work to make the campaign a success. I offered my +1 to Caroline, but unfortunately she is not able to come with me. And so, at some point between now and next July (dates TBD), I will be headed to Haiti with my mom to tour Water.org sites and see what their work is accomplishing on the ground. I am excited and honored to represent all of you and bring back stories of what our fundraising has done for those affected by the water crisis in Haiti.
