Raising up Women and Children for International Women's Day
If you could do one thing, right now, to support the health and well-being of women and girls, I know you'd do it. As warriors for social good I've seen TML members go to bat for causes from hunger, to health, and equality. Well, I have good news. If you have 5 minutes right now, you can get $5 to support a new generation of girl leaders.
Today, on International Women's Day, kicks off The Global Mom Relay. The Global Mom Relay allows moms and their friends to come together as part of a groundbreaking 60-day series of online conversations to share advice, stories, and inspiration about motherhood with a goal of improving the lives of women and children around the globe.
Created by the United Nations Foundation, Johnson & Johnson, BabyCenter, The Huffington Post, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Global Mom Relay brings together 60 days of online conversations, rallying networks of people around the world to join in the relay by commenting, sharing stories, making donations and taking action.
Making your impact is easy:
- Share a relay post on Facebook, Twitter, or email
- Donation $5 or more
For each of these actions you take, $5 will be donated by Johnson&Johnson or the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to one of UNF's supported causes: Girl Up, the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves, the Mobile Alliance for Maternal Action, and Shot@Life (up to $8,000 per day or $500,000 total).
Be sure to use the "share" button found at the bottom of each #globalmom post.
Check out the scheduled posts in the relay and follow @unfoundation to keep on top of this amazing initiative.
Today, go read, like, and share Adriana Logalbo's post "Mothers Rewriting the Future" -- and get $5 to GirlUp.
