Help the mothers of Somaliland this Mothers Day
We wanted to let you know about a campaign one of our fabulous TML bloggers has put together to benefit Edna Adan University Hospital. If you watched or read Half the Sky, you’ll remember the amazing work Edna Adan is doing to reduce the rate of maternal and infant mortality in Somaliland. From the Edna Adan website:
Somaliland’s health care system was utterly destroyed by the civil war leaving the country with, among other problems, the highest rate of maternal and infant mortality in the world. It is a goal of the Hospital not only to train fully-qualified health care professionals but also to train and dispatch 1000 midwives throughout the country. Another very important goal is to fight the practice of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) which is endemic throughout this region.
In celebration of Mother's Day, Lacy Stroessner and Jennifer Laber have collaborated on an art project to raise money for the Edna Adan University Hospital in Somaliland. They'll be selling limited edition art prints just in time for Mother's Day. They need your help to spread the word about their project.
Here are the details:
- Prints will be for sale beginning today, April 22
- Prints will be shipped within 3-5 business days of order and will arrive before Mother's Day, May 12th.
- Half of all proceeds will go to the Edna Adan University Hospital.
We would love for you to help promote Lacy’s project either through a mention on your blog or favorite social media channels! Be sure check Lacy’s blog, Living on Love, for more info and follow her @lacystroess and #give2ednaadan on Twitter.
